X slated
Christian O'Connell, best known nationally for his series on BBC Radio 5 Live, has slagged off the BBC, claiming "you don't believe in live radio or the music". Right, mind if we have a look at XFM's daytime A-list? Ah, about four songs. Don't mind us, Christian, but we're off to examine Zane Lowe's music broadcaster of the year and general specialist music trophies.

Strange really, as from what I recall of O'Connell's programme (I haven't heard it for about three years, a fact related to the very last item on that page) it was the sort of witless prattling toss (people doing cover versions of rock classic 'the sort of thing the BBC should be doing? Really?) that would fit in quite well on Radio 1. Not that I've listened to that much lately either. You aren't suggesting that Zane Lowe is in any way any good, are you?
Of course not, but, especially given much tribute was paid on the night to Peel, it's a bit odd of O'Connell to decry Radio 1's commitment to music on the night it won five music-related awards to XFM's three.
And yes, it's a right bugger about yesterday's news but hearing that Fabio* has declared himself an O'Connell fan... well, it just lets us all down.
