Weyes Blood - Some Winters

Well, this is quite something. Weyes Blood is Natalie Mering, who at various times has been backup for Ariel Pink and a member of Jackie-O Motherfucker and has been recording under various names for a few years now but her new album The Innocents (out October 20th, possibly) has ended up on Mexican Summer, who brought us the Spectral Park album last year, which suggests they're into those who twist outre tropes well beyond their normal means. The opening piano runs warping like a degraded VHS tape give some idea that not all is as it seems, but at the heart of it all is a voice like Nico as forest drifting spirit, nodding both to Cate Le Bon and Perfume Genius' current albums but as often lost in its own despondent, heavily creeped-out haze.
