Dido's last album Life For Rent sold 152,000 copies on the day of release in the UK, while the first single charted at number two.
The first single from the follow-up (Safe Trip Home, released 17th November) came out physically last week and entered at number 54.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything other than changed singles buying trends - R.E.M.'s first single before Accelerate did similarly and the album was number one.
Although I'd be surprised if this went the same way, yes.
