Ex-Manhattan Love Suicides come up with the Shirelles from hell, heavy on the sinister vocal reverb and buzzsaws
Fidelity's all over the place, as these are marked rehearsal recordings (what on? A perhaps paint splattered radio cassette player?), but these are the cherishable first recordings of a one gig old at time of writing group comprising members of KTD and The Wilderness Years, who we don't know, and Superman Revenge Squad, who we very much do. Ben doesn't take all the vocals, concentrating on needling guitar, but you can tell his contributions a mile off amid the squall and thrall to early 90s college rock.
Stop-motion frenzy for the opening track from European Monsoon, somehow sounding better in isolation (not that there was much wrong with it in the first place, you do understand)
Please don't be pale English folk girls and call a song Yo Mama. Behind that, defiantly nearly-ramshackle modern folk
