There's not been a lot of outright baroque in current US indie recently, something to invoke the mythical golden age of Brian Wilson's summer studio fun and trying not to think too hard about everything else weighing you down. Philadephia's Billy Ricchini, who is Summer Fiction, understands that intuitively, which is how he's come to write and record a song that in its quasi-harpsichord melody and lightness of retrospective touch sounds like Beulah covering Belle & Sebastian's Jonathan David. It's an upbeat pop song about downbeat femme fatale motives. A full album is available from Bandcamp for $8, about £5.50 (this track is the free download), and is worth your time.
