David Bowie that high in the year people noticed he hasn't been out much? Hendrix at least got an album of scrapings from the studio bin, Valleys Of Neptune, the radio play for which helped it to the heady UK heights of number 21.

A surprising list for at least one person we know, who couldn't turn the station on without hearing Grinderman. Unless the Beeb forgot to tag it. Big showings for Gruff Rhys and Crystal Castles there given the tracks in question (we're assuming the latter is the Robert Smith vocal version because, well, Robert Smith, 6 Music) only came out in mid-October. Black Mountain? Who'd have known.

We've scooted through this because of our pale indie kid nature, but what on earth is that number one? Actually it hit the heights of number 55 but was a summer smash that takes it top of an odd list that includes the none more bloggish Major Lazer and dancehall Londoner Vybz Kartel's Clarks, which as previously remarked upon is actually about Clark's Shoes.

...then you'd have to wonder about a list that includes Crocodiles and The Ropes in its airplay year's top ten, compared to whom White Rabbits and Egyptian Hip Hop, by the basis that you're likely to have heard of them, are Coldplay and U2. Imagine also a radio station that gives heavy headway to Britpop and then puts Zola Jesus on heavy rotation.
As with your chum and Grinderman, so it was for me and the Jim Jones Revue. If 6 Music only played it 105 times then I must have heard every last one. I went from quite liking the song to having to turn the thing off whenever it came on. Hurrah for playlists.
