The Music That Made... Pagan Wanderer Lu

So two days ago we told you about Pagan Wanderer Lu and why his new album Fight My Battles For Me, given a proper release on 25th May, is worth the effort. Today, Andy Regan tells us about himself.

First single bought: Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now on 7" vinyl - I had a poster too. I think I preferred the poster.
First album bought: Probably Bad by Michael Jackson on vinyl - first album on CD was His'n'Hers by Pulp.
First gig voluntarily attended: Garbage at Manchester Apollo - supported by Bis. Oh how we laughed...
The record that most made you want to get into music: Just one record? It's got to be Common People. That's where it all started.
The three headliners at a festival you were curating: In magical fantasy land it would be The Velvet Underground (when Lou Reed could still sing & with Nico), David Bowie (with the original Spiders from Mars), and Joy Division. In could-actually-happen land it'd be Aphex Twin, Animal Collective and Tom Waits.
A song not enough people know about but everyone should hear: Some Things Last A Long Time by Daniel Johnston - if you don't like Daniel Johnston you might as well go home.
A song you'd play to get people dancing: I like dancing to Atlas by Battles. You can do the locomotion to it.
The last great thing you heard: You need to bear in mind that I am completely uninformed about good new music so I'm currently getting hip to 2008's one-to-watch band Crystal Castles. Their album's good to walk home from band practice to. It makes you feel like you're about to get stabbed.
Your key non-musical influences: Kurt Vonnegut, Chris Morris, Charlie Brooker, David Lynch, my grandparents and various other people I know. Countless books where people expose the truth about various things in a way that makes me angry.
Your favourite new artist: See above re: my new music knowledge. Recently I've been enjoying 'new' artists like Stereolab, the Beastie Boys, Squarepusher, Animal Collective, David Byrne and Max Tundra. Also Deerhunter, they're kind of new...
