A certain romance

Thinking about our suggestion earlier that there had to be more to the Arctic Monkeys' rise than everyone suddenly discovering the same website at once we got searching on Technorati and found they were being talked about as early as last November. Better, though, is this February live report including a sighting of Amy Winehouse and an appeal to the NME to leave them alone. Hey ho.

In more upmarket news, we mentioned Do They Know It's Hallowe'en a few months back, and now a video has showed up just in time for the day itself.

I don't follow the NME enough to know when exactly they got on the bandwagon.
The first I heard of the band was repeated support about a year ago on the Drowned In Sound messageboards, although only to the same level as many local bands, before being sent a song by a friend on a CD which stood out a mile. The first I knew of possible success was seeing how quickly they sold out early London shows, and I didn't come across any mainstream coverage til after that.

Might not be very representative though, and certainly I they wouldn't be number one without radio 1/NME support.
